mariteaux Reviews Forward Ether

Thanks to mariteaux for the well-written review of Forward Ether! I appreciate him giving my music some shine, being the rather...anonymous?...musician that I am. (Not to mention that I'm kind of just some random guy who reached out based on some Starflyer 59 reviews that I enjoyed reading haha.)

By the way, Leave Here a Stranger turned 25 this year. "I Like Your Photographs" is a terrific song!

Silent Music Gets Included by Outside In on CICK 93.9

My songs made a trip down to Smithers, British Columbia last week. Long drive! Many thanks to Glen from Outside In (CICK 93.9) for including six songs from Forward Ether on last week's playlist.

(Btw, has anyone noticed the lengths I go to include wordplay in my post titles? Hopefully! Lol.)

Want to hear the entire album? You can purchase it digitally for $5 on Bandcamp and Beats Union (CDs are available for $10 on Bandcamp as well), or find it on your favourite streaming site.

Oh, and here's a picture of the train car CICK operates out of! Pretty cool, eh?

CJSR Plays "Maple Syrup Snowflakes"

We have snow again here in Saskatoon. Ugh! But hey, "Maple Syrup Snowflakes" was played on CJSR this past Thursday, so we can at least appreciate the thematic consistency. Thanks to them for the airplay!

Double Rainbow? Nah, It's Double Ether!

Californian writer and electronic artist Ether Diver has written a blurb for Forward Ether, covering it on the Other People's Music blog. Thanks to Cory for the review! Here's what he had to say about it:

A collection of weird and esoteric instrumental hip hop that defies the “lo fi beats to [blank] to” conventions for a distinctive and unique approach to the genre. For one, it’s not particularly lo-fi. Most of these actually display an almost crystalline sheen, featuring sharp-edged sounds that pop out of the speakers.

For another, it resolutely does not want to fade into the background. Nearly every one of these tracks is all but demanding your attention, with bold timbres, unexpected turnarounds, and unusual beats. Those are both big points in its favor, even if it means you won’t be hearing these featured in a nine-hour YouTube playlist designed to sleep to.

Forward Ether is available now. You can purchase it digitally for $5 on Bandcamp and Beats Union (CDs are available for $10 on Bandcamp as well), or find it on your favourite streaming site.
